Kathy Rhodes
BUSINESS AND MARKETING STRATEGIST

ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Kathy the co-founder and Chief Alchemist at Thought Alchemists, a business growth and marketing strategy consultancy that helps thought leaders increase their revenue and influence. Check out what we do here
Before I decided to devote my time to improving the world one idea at a time, I held a number of senior marketing leadership positions at ANZ Wealth - a business I still consult to today.
Since 2017, I have served as a Strategy Director for Step Change, a strategic marketing agency. So far I’ve helped over 25 of their clients including HP, Mad Mex, Church & Dwight, iCetana, Bowhill Engineering and LightFM to solve their trickiest business and marketing challenges.
You’ll find me on stage with the Steppers at Stump the Strategist at conferences like the Chief Strategy Officer Summit and delivering keynotes like How Marketers Can Avoid Sending Aussie Mums To Sleep.
Both a self-confessed ‘A-type’ and passionate about collaborating with brilliant minds, you’ll also find me working with Cracking Creative and Story and Focus to provide their clients with additional strategic thinking. Who wouldn’t want to help launch a new burger restaurant or a platform to connect cake makers to customers?!
In 2018, I was invited to be a B&T Award judge for both the Experiential Agency of the Year Award and the Research Agency of the Year Award. And in 2019, you’ll find me giving back to the industry in new and different ways.
My professional experience started more than 15 years ago at Anderson Knight, a marketing and communications agency that I left after two years of working with organisations like Harvard, AICD and CPA Australia, to join The Cancer Council NSW.
During my time at one Australia’s leading cancer not-for-profits, I was responsible for raising awareness of, and funds for, a wide variety campaigns including Pink Ribbon Day, Daffodil Day and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. Accepting oversized novelty cheques, talking on stage about slip, slop, slap, wrap and writing media releases packed with important prevention messages were normal parts of my working week.
I hold a Bachelor of Communication with a sub-major in Social Psychology from Western Sydney University and I’m part-way through a Diploma of Adult Education.
When I’m not on a plane, at a networking event or hanging out in a co-working space, you’ll find me with my head buried in a book, drinking copious amounts of herbal tea, the occasional glass of French champagne and spending time with my son, and greatest source of joy, Theodore.
